Department of Language and Communication Studies is currently seeking to recruit a University Teacher, Spanish, from August 1st 2019 until further notice.

The University Teacher’s position is allocated to the Department of Language and Communication Studies and to the discipline of Spanish language. The University Teacher’s position is a teaching-oriented position, and the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish and developing teaching at the level of basic and advanced studies. The position involves teaching in the areas of 1) communication skills, 2) language knowledge, and 3) language, culture and society.

The duties and qualification requirements for the position of University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The University Teacher of Spanish needs to have proficiency in Spanish at the level of a native speaker, or of a speaker for whom Spanish has been their language of education. The selected person is required to have a full command of Finnish language. When considered appropriate, the university may grant exemption from Finnish language proficiency requirements. Non-Finnish personnel are expected to acquire at least intermediate-level skills in Finnish within three years from the start of their employment.

In addition, experience in teaching, pedagogical training, teaching materials produced by the Applicant, other teaching merits, and, when appropriate, demonstrated teaching skills, as well as other skills and achievements relevant to the task of University Teacher are regarded as merits. The successful Candidate is expected to have previous experience in teaching Spanish at university level, good organizational skills and strong communicative and interpersonal skills.

The University Teacher’s job-specific salary component is based on the job demand levels 4-5 (2.507,62 €/month – 2.903,61 €/month) according to the salary system concerning teaching and research staff at universities. In addition, a personal performance-based salary component amounting to 6-50 % of the job-specific salary component will also paid.

A six-month trial period is applied to the filling of the position.
