An advanced degree from a university or an institution of equivalent status, preferably from an internationally recognized interpretation school, or equivalent qualifications is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Candidates for this position must have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Interpreters.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in conference servicing/interpretation as well as in planning and budgeting is required.
Demonstrated management and leadership experience is required.
Considerable experience and knowledge of the worldwide and local freelance interpretation market are required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required.
Knowledge of at least one other official language or as tested by the relevant United Nations Competitive Examination is required.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.
