Who we are
Cálamo&Cran – an introduction
Cálamo&Cran S.L. was founded in 1997 as an editorial services company, a pioneer in providing copyediting and proofreading services. Soon afterwards, the company expanded its scope to offer training programmes for professional copyeditors, subsequently adding a wide range of courses for other language and editorial specialists (editors, translators, layout artists, etc.). As the years have passed, we have further expanded our range of services for the editorial sector so as to include other markets with editorial processes: advertising agencies, publications, the media, public institutions, etc., where many of the professionals who have taken our training programmes are now actively working. Likewise, our job bank includes numerous former students who come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, which allows us to provide a highly precise selection of candidates for companies seeking top-notch professionals.
As a result of the continued success and expansion of our training programmes, we have established study centres in both Barcelona and Salamanca to complement our head offices and classrooms located in Madrid, and have begun to implement innovative online training options as well.
Currently, our work encompasses much more than training programmes for professional editors and translators, as we also offer a full range of editorial services for businesses. Among our clients can be found a variety of organisations, from large publishing groups to consulting firms and public institutions. As a result, our experience and expertise in the sector is vast, covering a large number of subjects and different formats. We offer editing, translation, layout, copyediting and proofreading services, among others, as well as specialised in-company training. In this way, the companies that use our training courses are guaranteed a customised training programme that fits their specific needs and expectations.
Finally, we have made great efforts to share the knowledge we have gained through our professional and educational activities by participating in seminars, conferences and international trade fairs such as Liber and Expolingua, and by organising round-table discussions and conferences on issues affecting the editorial and language industries. |
