P. Valéry said translation is producing, with different means, analogous effects. I’d say it is creating analogous but necessarily different effects, since translating involves leaving your imprint on the text. The original text is just the beginning.
Translator and Copyeditor of Euskera (Basque)
Mirari holds a degree in Basque Philology from the University of Deusto. She has an extensive background in both translating and copyediting, having worked for both print media and television. She also has worked as a teacher of Basque and English for both children and adults. Currently, she works as a copyeditor of Euskera (Basque) for a television producer (Pausoka), as an editor of a series on Basque television (ETB), and as a freelance translator. An avid reader and writer, she has won several literary prizes, and has also participated as a member of the panel of judges for several different literary competitions.
