NIEVES MUÑOZ RAMIRO
MADRID
Translating requires a lot of common sense: You can’t simply sit down in front of the computer and put yourself on auto-pilot; rather, you must think carefully and sometimes act as a detective in order to discover the author’s original intentions.

Nieves earned her degree in Translation and Interpretation at Universidad Pontificia Comillas. Since then, she has focused her activities on scientific translation. She began her professional career at a small medical translation agency, where she underwent training and acquired extensive experience. Some years later, she established herself as a freelance translator and now works with one of the country’s top scientific translation agencies, in addition to collaborating with several other agencies and publishers. Nieves has also worked as a copyeditor and has undertaken tasks such as copywriting or creating glossaries. She has translated important texts from a wide range of specialities, including internal medicine, paediatrics, traumatology, etc. She demands a lot of herself and of others, and believes that medical translation is a highly complex and constantly evolving field that requires that one continuously seek out training opportunities.
