Services for individuals

When an individual comes to us, it is because they are looking for the highest quality for their project. More than ten years’ experience in training editing and language professionals speak for us. Many of our former students now hold positions of responsibility in the publishing world.

We guarantee quality and accuracy.

How we work
  1) We speak with the client to analyse their needs and prepare an estimate. In order to do so, we need the client’s full details (name, address, telephone number, e-mail and tax identification number-NIF).
  2) When the estimate is approved, we issue a pro forma invoice for 50% of the total amount of the estimate. This amount may be paid in cash or by credit card or bank transfer.
  3) When payment of this 50% is received, we begin work.
  4)

When the work is delivered, we issue an invoice for the total amount, deducting the amount
already paid.

We offer the following services
  • Translations in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Greek, Dutch, Russian, Polish and Arabic
  • Sworn translations (ask about languages)
  • Copyediting and proofreading (novels, essays, theses, etc.)
  • Design and layout
  • Reader’s reports: send us your literary work and we will prepare a reader’s report for submission to publishers together with your manuscript.
  • Courses for individuals
What is a sworn translation?
A sworn translation is a translation done by a sworn translator, a professional with a special qualification which allows them to stamp official documents in Spain.
What types of editing are there?

Copyediting: This involves eliminating spelling, grammatical, layout (if the mock-up has already been prepared) and typographical errors. This may be done in Word, on PDF, on paper, in Quark or in InDesign. Editing a mock-up (PDF, paper, Quark or InDesign) is also known as proofreading.

Style editing: This involves making improvements to the form of expression, consistency and structure of a text so that the message comes across more clearly to the reader or listener and it is suited to the intent the writer wants to communicate. Style editing also eliminates spelling and grammatical errors. We recommend that this be done in Word before laying out the text.

Translation comparison and editing: This involves checking a translation to ensure that it accurately reflects the original. This means that there are no spelling or grammatical errors, that none of the text has been left untranslated and that the meaning has not been misinterpreted in any case. We recommend that this be done in Word.

Content editing: This involves having a specialist in a specific field (medicine, mechanics, etc.) check the text to ensure that there are no conceptual errors.

What is a reader’s report?
A reader’s report is a comprehensive, yet concise, document, two pages at the most, which includes the basic information about a literary work. It is prepared in order to allow an editor who reads this report to determine whether he or she is interested in publishing the piece without the need to read the entire work.
